Welcome to the Department of Computer Science at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria.
The Department of Computer Science at JKU is a vibrant place to study and a premier institution for research. Our department provides a fine center for graduate and undergraduate studies in computer science. We offer PhD, Master, and Bachelor degrees, with varying specializations. We also educate computer science teachers. The department employs a 30-strong tenured faculty and has about 1000 enrolled students (roughly 650 Bachelor, 300 Master, and 80 PhD students). The department is internationally recognized and has a strong commitment to fundamental and applied research in computer sciences, covering bio informatics, computational perception, computer architecture, computer graphics, computer supported cooperation, database systems, formal methods, networks, parallel computing, pervasive computing, and software engineering.

JKU professor Gabriele Kotsis served as the president of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) from 2020 to 2022. ACM is the world's largest scientific and educational computing society (based in New York) with about 100,000 members.
