TDL - A Component Model for Determinstic Real-time Systems

Abstract

Traditionally, hard real-time systems are built as monolithic applications for a particular platform, which hinders portability and extensibility. The timing definition language TDL, on the other side, aims at a radical improvement of the development of hard real-time systems by providing a high level component model that abstracts from the execution platform and topology and that allows for adding of real-time components without affecting the timing behavior of existing components. Based on the notion of logical execution time, TDL also supports simulation and distribution of components under preservation of the timing behavior. The talk presents the syntax and semantics of TDL and shows the tool chain that has been developed for TDL as well as the optional integration with Matlab Simulink. Bio

Josef Templ studierte Informatik in Linz und promovierte an der ETH Zürich am Institut von Prof. Wirth. Seit 1994 ist er als selbständiger Berater und Softwareentwickler tätig. Seit 2003 wirkt er als Chief Software Architect im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojektes der Universität Salzburg an der Entwicklung von TDL mit.
